Browser and web-app troubleshooting
Separate a website problem from a browser problem
A page that fails to open might be down for everyone or only affected by one browser, extension or connection. Before clearing your history or changing privacy settings, compare a trusted website, another browser and another device. These comparisons can save your saved sessions and local website data.
Only one website fails
Check its address carefully, and see whether another trusted site works on the same connection. If the issue is isolated, it may be a site outage, certificate warning or browser compatibility problem. Do not bypass a certificate warning merely to get a page open, especially when it requests a password or payment details.
You cannot sign in to a web app
Verify the account in use and whether the browser allows the cookies or authentication flow that service requires. Extensions, strict tracking settings and blocked pop-ups may affect particular sign-in methods. Try a private window as a diagnostic comparison, but remember it does not make a session anonymous or solve account-level restrictions.
Pages look broken or crash
Check browser updates and whether the problem follows an extension or a particular tab. Disabling extensions temporarily can help narrow a conflict; turn them back on once you have identified the cause. Clearing cookies or site storage signs you out and may remove locally saved website preferences or drafts, so check the consequences first.
For Chrome-specific questions, see Google Chrome Help; other browsers have their own support instructions. If multiple apps lose connectivity, visit Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Fixes before altering browser settings.
Clearing cookies can sign you out, and clearing site data can erase locally stored settings. Check which data a reset will remove before you proceed.
